Commissioner of the President of Ukraine at NATO HQ: Ukraine defends not only its independence but also Europe's security

Commissioner of the President of Ukraine for the Peaceful Settlement of the Situation in Donetsk and Luhansk Regions Ms. Iryna Gerashchenko visited NATO Headquarters on 24 April 2015

While at NATO HQ, Ms Gerashchenko took part in a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of the Partnerships and Cooperative Security Committee, where she informed the representatives of the Allied countries about the humanitarian situation in eastern Ukraine at the background of Russian aggression.

In particular, she emphasized that the number of registered internally displaced citizens of Ukraine was more than a million. Commissioner I.Gerashchenko said that the Ukrainian state does its utmost to ensure that these Ukrainian citizens have everything they need. In this context, Ukraine relies on the support of its international partners and prepares for the International Support for Ukraine Conference, due in Kyiv on April 28, aimed at raising funds to help the victims of Russian armed aggression and to rebuild the infrastructure of Donbass destroyed by pro-russian terrorist.

He also says that the preparation of constitutional amendments on the implementation of the goal enshrined in this Law  is now being completed: "We will submit a draft of the relevant amendments to the Constitution to the Ukrainian Parliament". The Head of State called this Law historic and said that the Ukrainian authorities, representatives of the defense and security sector, our international partners had been working on it for more than two years.
