Meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Defence Ministers with the Nations contributing to the International Security Force in Afghanistan (ISAF) was held under the chairmanship of NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen at NATO Headquarters, Brussels, on 5 June 2013.
Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Ambassador Ihor Dolhov took part in the event.
During the meeting, participants discussed the political and security situation in Afghanistan, ISAF activities as well as the progress in preparation for transferring responsibility for security across the entire country from ISAF to the Afghan National Security Forces. Besides, the ministers continued planning for the future NATO-led mission in Afghanistan, known as Resolute Support.
In this context the ministers endorsed the Concept of the new mission Resolute Support and tasked NATO’s military experts to start developing a more detailed Operations Plan based on it.
In his speech at the meeting, Head of the Ukrainian Mission to NATO, Ambassador I.Dolhov informed that Ukraine joined the decision on endorsement of the Resolute Support Concept and emphasised the need to accelerate the process of configuring the new mission.
