On 4 October 2013, NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of deputy permanent representatives was held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels with participation of Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for Conflicts, Ambassador Andrii Deshchytsia and acting Special Representative of Ukraine for Transdniestrian settlement, Ambassador of Ukraine to Moldova Serhii Pyrozhkov.
The discussion on protracted conflicts resolution in the OSCE area was chaired by NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Mr. James Appathurai.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the progress of Transnistrian settlement, prospects for resolving Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the dynamics of negotiations in the framework of the Geneva International Discussions on security and stability in the South Caucasus.
NATO reiterated its appreciation for Ukraine's efforts aimed at resolving the "frozen" conflicts in the OSCE area. In this context the unanimous support was expressed for our country's desire to achieve progress towards peaceful settlement of conflicts through negotiations, including under the Ukraine’s OSCE Chairmanship in 2013.
