NATO can help in political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis – Head of the Ukrainian Government
Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.
During the press conference following the meeting Arsenii Yatseniuk said that the crisis in Ukraine must be resolved only in a peaceful way, "It is clear that military option is not on the table".
"We do not consider military option as a way out of the crisis. We further believe that we should do everything possible to overcome the crisis only by a political and diplomatic means. As a very important political instrument in resolving tglobal security challenges NATO can help a lot in this ", - Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed.
He underlined that, at the same time, “it depend on the Russian Government weather it makes the step back and the first step to stabilize the situation in the region and stop escalation of the tension between Ukraine and Russia as well as in the whole Europe”.
"Urged the Russian authorities to move back its forces and adhere to its international obligations. I would reiterate again – this is the responsibility of the Russian authorities. They have started this and they need to end it up", - the Prime Minister stressed.
Arsenii Yatseniuk also mentioned that he had passed to the NATO Secretary General an invitation to hold a meeting in Kyiv. He expressed confidence in importance of more close cooperation and additional humanitarian and technical support by NATO to improve defense and security system in Ukraine.
