A meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission (NUC) at the ambassadorial level was held at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. The meeting was chaired by NATO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Alexander Vershbow.

The development of political and security situation in Ukraine and preparations for early presidential elections in Ukraine on 25 May were thoroughly discussed and addressed during the meeting.

Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Ambassador Ihor Dolhov informed the NUC meeting participants on the actions of the Ukrainian authorities aimed at stabilizing the situation in the country, achieving national unity and fulfilling the Geneva agreements of 17 April.

An exchange of relevant information about Rissia’s ongoing illegal actions in the eastern regions of Ukraine and military escalation near the eastern border of our country took place.

The preparations for the upcoming presidential election in Ukraine were also discussed. Ambassador Dolhov informed the Allies of all the current problems related to elections, including measures to ensure the election process against the background of ongoing destructive actions, inspired by Russia to disrupt elections in Ukraine.

The Allies showed their strong support for the actions of Ukrainian authorities in the current challenging environment and expressed confidence that Ukraine will ensure that the early presidential elections on May 25 are held in the proper way in accordance with all international standards.
