Lithuanian representation to carry out the role of a NATO Contact Point Embassy in Ukraine

On 15 July, NATO member countries decided that the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine will carry out the role of a NATO Contact Point Embassy from 2015 to 2017.

“I am glad that Lithuania is once again entrusted with the honorable duty to represent the Alliance. We strive to strengthen cooperation between NATO and Ukraine,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius.

The Embassy of Lithuania is the current NATO Contact Point Embassy in Sweden. Lithuanian representations carried out the role of NATO Contact Point Embassies in Georgia (2011-2012), Moldova (2009-2010) and Belarus (2004-2010).honorable

Key tasks of the NATO Contact Point Embassy include: dissemination of information about NATO activities and policies, organisation of public events in order to raise general awareness and support for the Alliance, cooperation with local media, public institutions and non-governmental organizations.
