Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk met with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, who is for a visit in our country.
The PM has noted the importance of coordination of joint efforts in order to overcome the threats to European security, which represents the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The Prime Minister highly appreciated the active position of the Alliance concerning condemnation of the illegal annexation by Russia of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and aggressive actions in the East of Ukraine.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Anders Fogh Rasmussen have discussed joint steps aimed at further deepening of Ukraine's cooperation with the Alliance. It is, in particular, on cooperation in the framework of the instrument of Annual national programmes, and the use of new Trust funds established by NATO so as to support the defence of Ukraine in logistics, control and communications systems, cyber security, as well as social adaptation of discharged military personnel.
The PM and the NATO Secretary General have stressed the importance of adopting additional measures to respond to the situation in Ukraine on the results of the forthcoming summit of the Alliance, which is to be held on 4-5 September in the UK.
