At Ukraine’s request, NATO activated the mechanism in order to provide medical assistance to the wounded during the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Lugansk regions of our country.
The mechanism will cover medical treatment of servicemen of the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the Security Service of Ukraine that suffered serious injuries in the course of the anti-terrorist operation and are in need for complex medical intervention as well as long-term care and rehabilitation. Those are, primarily, the cases where the Ukrainian capacity is limited or has been exhausted.
To date, Greece, Slovakia and Hungary confirmed the medical treatment would be provided in their respective hospitals to 18 Ukrainian servicemen.
Ukraine is grateful to the Governments of these NATO Member States that responded to our request for assistance.
