At Ukraine’s request, NATO Member States continue to provide medical assistance to the wounded during the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Lugansk regions of our country.
It is about medical treatment of servicemen of the Armed Forces, the National Guard and the Security Service of Ukraine who suffered serious injuries in the course of the anti-terrorist operation and are in need for complex medical intervention as well as long-term care and rehabilitation. Those are, primarily, the cases where the Ukrainian capacity is limited or has been exhausted.
To date, 35 servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 17 soldiers of the Security Service, 5 soldiers of the National Guard and 1 soldier of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Interior of Ukraine have been treated or still undergoing treatment in Germany, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia and Israel.
Furthermore, a number of other Allies, namely Greece, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia, Slovenia and the United States, declared their readiness to rehabilitate injured service personnel at their domestic medical institutions.
Ukraine is grateful to the Governments of the NATO Member States that responded to our request for assistance.
