NATO Parliamentary Assembly mission of observers on 27th October, 2014 published its report concerning the extraordinary election to Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
It was noted that these elections were an important step toward the strengthening of democratic values in Ukraine in accordance with the international obligations.
It was praised the impartial and effective work of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the head of the NATO PA delegation R. Juknevieiene noted that elections in Ukraine took place in a very challenging atmosphere of continued tensions in the east of the country, but it did not hinder to ensure the voting process in the most of the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk region.
„Despite the difficult situation in the east of the country, this election is a significant success for Ukrainian democracy. The newly chosen Parliament will have to perform a difficult but important work toward resolving the issues that country is facing” – said R. Juknevieiene.
