On 12 November, 2014 OSCE Secretary General L.Zannier visited the NATO Headquarters.
In the framework of the visit he was received by NATO Secretary General J.Stoltenberg and delivered a speech to the North Atlantic Council.
The situation in Ukraine and the measures taken by the special mission of the OSCE towards solving the crisis in the east of our country were on the top of agenda of the meetings.
NATO Secretary General said that the crisis in Ukraine is the biggest threat to the Euro-Atlantic security in recent decades. For this reason, he welcomed the deployment of the OSCE special observer mission in eastern Ukraine, which, according to him, made an important contribution to an impartial monitor events directly in the conflict zone.
In their turn, members of the North Atlantic Council appreciated the efforts of the OSCE stated that the role of the organization in this regard is very important.
NATO and the OSCE expressed beliefs about the need to further strengthen political and practical cooperation between them, as well as with other international organizations, as it was announced during this year's NATO summit in Wales. In particular, discussions regarding the participation of the OSCE initiative NATO Capability Group (Defence Capability Building Initiative) are underway.
