The main issues of the session are:
- threats from the Russian Federation to the Euro-Atlantic security;
- revitalization of the terrorist group Islamic state;
- Alliance's adaptation to the hybrid threats, which include the information, political and economic methods of warfare instead of exclusively military approach;
- future of Afghanistan and its National Security Forces in connection with the completion of the NATO military mission and starting of its advisory and training mission "Resolute support";
- achievement of the political agreement in nuclear talks between Iran and Western powers;
- situation in the Balkans, in the context of recent acts of violence in the Republic of Macedonia;
- situation in the Middle East and North Africa, including the challenges caused by conflict in Syria, Iraq and Libya, leading to a rapid increase in the number of refugees and migrants who hope to get to Europe.

The Ukrainian question is centerpiece of the session.

270 parliamentarians from 28 NATO member states and the 23 countries which have the status of associate members and observers of the Assembly take part in the spring session of NATO PA.
