On the eve of the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Working Group for military reforms, Col. Gen. Stepan Poltorak, Minister of Defence of Ukraine, held talks with Ambassador Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy.
The parties defined joints plans on further cooperation.
Col. Gen. Stepan Poltorak thanked the Assistant Secretary General for support provided by the Alliance nations.
According to Defence Minister, the ongoing situation in the east of Ukraine proves Russia still supports separatism. This policy threatens security of Ukraine and European countries. In this context, head of defence ministry spoke about consolidation of joint efforts aimed at supporting the security reforms.
The parties spoke about NATO-Ukraine cooperation as a key element of national security of Ukraine and defence reforms. As Minister of Defence noted, Ukraine put high hopes on the NATO-Ukraine Commission Meeting to be held on June 25.
