First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Mr. Oleg Hladkovskyi and NATO Assistant Secretary General Mr. Patrick Auroy worked on this issue at the meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Working Group on Defence and Technical Cooperation
Ukrainian delegation, headed by First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Mr. Oleg Hladkovskyi, participated in a meeting of Joint Working Group on Defence and Technical Cooperation held at NATO HQ in Brussels. The Alliance’s delegation was led by NATO Assistant Secretary General for Defence Investment Mr. Patrick Auroy.
The delegations discussed the state and perspectives of cooperation in defence-technical sphere. NATO representatives underlined that Ukraine could count on the Alliance’s assistance in supporting the Armed Forces and the entire defence and security sector of Ukraine in the field of weapons and military equipment development, as well as in implementing relevant NATO standards.
Particular attention was focused on improving the efficiency of the opportunities and mechanisms of cooperation with the Alliance in the interests of weapons and military equipment development in the Armed Forces and other military formations of Ukraine. Relevant work will be conducted in the framework of the Roadmap on Defence and Technical Cooperation between Ukraine and NATO.
For reference: NATO-Ukraine Joint Working Group on Defence and Technical Cooperation are conducted under the auspices of the NATO-Ukraine Commission. Meetings are held twice a year, alternately in Ukraine and at NATO HQ. The first meeting of the JWG was held in 2004.
