Minister of Defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak met with NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow on 7 December 2015.
S.Poltorak and A.Vershbow have exchanged their views on the first results of reform of Ukrainian army wich was made since the NATO-Ukraine Summit in Wales in September 2014.
In this context, the parties reached a consensus about the readiness of Ukrainian side to upgrade the reform process in Defence ministry to a new level with a focus on medium-term planning. it was also agreed sequence of actions to prepare relevant decisions for the period up to NATO summit in Warsaw due to be held in July 2016.
NATO side positively assessed the work undertaken by S.Poltorak to reform the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and also expressed its support for the Minister's vision of the next steps. A.Vershbow stressed that NATO will continue to support Ukraine actively in its fight against Russian aggression and to reform its security and defence sector.
