NATO’s expert group headed by Assistant NATO Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Alejandro Alvargonzález visited Ukraine.
Plenary high-level meeting which was attended by the representatives of relevant ministries and agencies was held. During the meeting the basic achievements of our state on implementation of ANP for 2016 were considered and the key areas for the development and preparation of the new ANP for 2017 were outlined.
Assistant NATO Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy A. Alvargonzález held bilateral meeting with the Secretary of the NSDC of Ukraine O.Turchynov, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine - Chief of Staff V.Prystayko and the Head of Permanent delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, MP of Ukraine I.Friz. During these meetings they discussed the situation in Eastern Ukraine and increasing of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO. In addition, attention was focused to the issue of reforming of the defense and security sector of Ukraine.
Assistant NATO Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy noted that the settlement of the conflict in Eastern Ukraine remains on the agenda of the Alliance. He stressed that the allies have no doubt about the fact that exactly Russia, not the "volunteer battalions", is the aggressor in the conflict in Ukraine and assured on the firm NATO's position on the territorial integrity of Ukraine, the annexation of the Crimea, and responsibility of Russia for violations of international law.
