In the framework of the working visit to Germany, President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
Petro Poroshenko informed Jens Stoltenberg about a difficult security situation in Donbas and significant escalation caused by massive shelling of Avdiivka by militants controlled by Russia.
Jens Stoltenberg emphasized that NATO terminated practical cooperation with Russia and supports sanctions until fill implementation of the Minsk agreements by Russia.
The Head of State thanked the Secretary General of NATO for his clear position of condemnation of Russian aggressive policy and actions in Donbas. He also thanked for the consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and noted the importance of preserving Transatlantic unity in response to the ongoing Russian aggression.
The President stressed the importance of NATO’s practical assistance to Ukraine for the enhancement of defense capacity and reformation of the security and defense sector under the NATO standards.
The parties agreed to intensify future activities within the NATO Trust Funds in support of Ukraine.
Petro Poroshenko also invited NAC delegations to visit Ukraine in 2017.
