Head of Ukrainian Mission to NATO, Ambassador I.Dolhov met NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges Ambassador G.Iklódy.
During the meeting the Ukraine-NATO cooperation within the Alliance’s program “Science for Peace and Security” was discussed.
Assistant Secretary General Ambassador G.Iklódy. informed that in September, Kyiv would host an international conference on emerging security challenges, organized by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs together with the Emerging Security Challenges Division of the NATO International staff. The main topics of the event would be cooperation in scientific and environmental protection, cyber security, economic and energy security.
It was underlined the importance of current key Ukraine-NATO projects within the Alliance’s program “Science for Peace and Security" such as the development of the Ukrainian Research and Academic Network (URAN) funded by the NATO grant; monitoring and forecasting floods in the basin of Prypyat River, contaminated with radioactive isotopes as a result of the Chornobyl disaster; the joint project aimed at building a unique high-energy x-rays equipment providing high resolution imaging in the field of medicine, explosion and forensic detection and environmental security based in Kharkiv National Science Centre .
