On December 9, the Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO took part in an expert discussion organized by the Foreign Policy Council “Ukrainian Prism.”
While speaking with the participants, the Head of the Ukrainian Mission shared details about the priorities in Ukraine’s relations and security cooperation with NATO, as well as the growing role of the Alliance in ensuring support for Ukraine.
She emphasized the importance of the PURL initiative in strengthening Ukraine’s defense, noting that even in the short time since its launch, it has already proven highly effective and the number of countries supporting it continues to grow. The Head of the Mission stressed that it is essential to ensure the sustainability of PURL, given that certain types of weapons are provided to Ukraine exclusively through this initiative.
Alyona Getmanchuk also spoke about the deepening cooperation between Ukraine’s and the Alliance’s defense industries, highlighting that Ukraine currently possesses unique and innovative technologies and is ready to share them with NATO.
The discussion focused on Ukraine’s role in the Euro-Atlantic security architecture, ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at bringing peace to Ukraine, and the future of security guarantees.
The Head of the Mission stressed that it is critically important to take a decision on using frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine as soon as possible. She also highlighted that Ukraine is already contributing to the security of the Alliance and is an indispensable part of it — a point underscored by the decision of the Hague Summit that support for Ukraine should be included in increased defense spending.
