On 14 January 2026 Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Alyona Getmanchuk, visited JATEC — the first and only joint Ukraine–NATO institution dedicated to capturing Ukraine’s battlefield lessons learned and strengthening interoperability.
She met with JATEC leadership, in particular Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, as well as the Ukrainian team there led by Colonel Valeriy Vyshnivskyi.
They discussed JATEC’s major achievements to date, as well as key priorities for its work in 2026.
Although the Center officially began its work less than a year ago, it has already delivered many tangible results in increasing interoperability between Ukraine and NATO, as well as in studying and applying lessons learned from Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, including:
Through innovative cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, solutions are being developed to counter KABs, Shahed drones, and fibre-optic drones, and to ensure more effective medical evacuation of the wounded from combat zones.
Thanks to JATEC’s efforts, Ukraine participated in NATO military exercises under Article 5 for the first time in history and also acted as the enemy (“red team”) in other Alliance exercises for the first time.
