Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Alyona Getmanchuk, met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and presented her credentials.

“We strongly hope that NATO will assume an important role in shaping the architecture of security guarantees for Ukraine”, stressed Head of the Mission.

During the meeting, the Head of Ukraine’s Mission to NATO expressed gratitude to the NATO Secretary General for revitalizing the transatlantic link and ensuring effective coordination between the U.S., NATO, the EU and the coalition of the willing. She noted that NATO has begun to play an important role in bringing the war to an end.

Alyona Getmanchuk also thanked Secretary General for his personal involvement in the peace process and for initiating and launching the PURL initiative.

Head of the Mission outlined her priorities in the new post. They include securing the support Ukraine needs, with a particular focus on the PURL initiative, investments in Ukraine’s defense production, and ensuring the sustainability of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as maximizing the benefits of every relevant Ukraine–NATO program and every NATO tool available for Ukraine.

Head of the Mission also emphasized that it is crucially important for Ukraine that the prospect of NATO membership remains on the table.
