On May 4, 2023, Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Ambassador Nataliia Galibarenko took part online in the Special Event of the Ukrainian Women's Congress, that was dedicated to the effective participation of women in security and defense processes, the experience of Ukrainian women during a full-scale war and the development of the veteran movement in Ukraine.
"During the year of the war, Ukraine has demonstrated on the battlefield how capable, creative and resilient our army is. We have a lot to teach our Western partners. This also includes the issues of gender equality and equality between women and men," said the Ambassador in her speech.
The Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO noted that the next revision of NATO Policy on Women, Peace and Security, which is expected after the Vilnius Summit, will take into account the experience of Ukrainian women on the battlefield. It is also the experience of combining different roles - a woman as an active public figure, a volunteer, a woman on the battlefield, a woman as a leader in crisis decision-making.
"For NATO, Ukraine is a practical example that can be used to draw conclusions for its policy on gender equality," the Head of the MUN emphasized.
The event was attended by representatives of the government, experts and the diplomatic corps. NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for Women, Peace and Security Irene Fellin also participated in the event.
