Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk briefed NATO member states on the humanitarian situation in our country

On April 15, 2024, a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee of the NATO-Ukraine Council on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine took place at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

The Deputy Prime Minister briefed the Allies on the current humanitarian situation in the country, which remains extremely difficult, and the biggest challenges in this area that the Ukrainian authorities face almost daily. In her speech, she paid special attention to the tense situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and in the frontline areas.

Iryna Vereshchuk provided detailed information on the illegal deportation of Ukrainian civilians, especially children, from the temporarily occupied territories to Russia. She also assessed the situation with the prisoner exchange.

The Deputy Prime Minister thanked the Alliance for providing humanitarian, financial, and military assistance and emphasized that the implementation of joint practical assistance projects with NATO should be accelerated, funding should be sustainable, and decision-making procedures should be significantly accelerated. She also emphasized the importance of proper coordination of international humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

The Allies reaffirmed their readiness to support Ukraine and provide the assistance necessary to overcome the humanitarian crisis. They also emphasized the need to bring Russia to justice for crimes committed in Ukraine.

During her visit to NATO Headquarters, the Deputy Prime Minister also met with NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Boris Ruge.
