On May 14, 2025, a meeting of the NUC at the level of the Chiefs of Defence took place, during which Ukraine and Allies discussed the current security situation in Ukraine and further support from the Alliance and member states.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi took part in the meeting (online).

The Commander-in-Chief informed the participants of the meeting about the assessment of Russia's strategic tasks in the war for the near and further prospects and outlined the current operational and strategic situation.

Oleksandr Syrskyi emphasized that strengthening air defence remains a priority for Ukraine and, accordingly, our country needs more aircraft, anti-aircraft missile systems, radar stations and reconnaissance equipment. He also noted that the need to provide our troops with missiles and ammunition remains critical.

The general outlined the main priorities of military cooperation with NATO, including the activities of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Centre (JATEC), the implementation of the draft Concept of the NATO-Ukraine Interoperability Roadmap, the creation of the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Architecture, and the work of the NATO Security Assistance and Training for Ukraine (NSATU).

Oleksandr Syrskyi praised the peace efforts of the international community led by the United States and reaffirmed Ukraine's readiness for peace talks. He emphasized the importance of a full and unconditional ceasefire in the air, at sea and on land for at least 30 days to create space for diplomacy. The Commander-in-Chief also emphasized the important role of the Coalition of the Willing in establishing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and preventing Russian aggression in the future.

Allies reaffirmed that the Alliance will continue to support Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.
