On May 16, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis visited NATO Headquarters, where he held a series of meetings.
Yevhen Perebyinis met with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Thomas Goffus. Ukrainian diplomat emphasized the need for timely funding of projects under Comprehensive Assistance Package and stressed the importance of sustainable arms supplies to Ukraine.
The Deputy Minister informed his counterpart about efforts to ensure the interoperability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with NATO forces and to align Ukraine's defense industry with NATO standards. The parties also discussed the issue of meeting Ukraine's needs for air defense systems in light of ongoing Russian air attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
Yevgen Perebyinis also met with NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Boris Ruge. During this meeting, they discussed preparations for this year's NATO Washington Summit and Ukraine's expectations for its outcome. Special attention was paid to the work of the NATO-Ukraine Council and its committees as important mechanisms for deepening Ukraine's cooperation with the Alliance.
