KYIV, January 29 /UKRINFORM/. The North Atlantic Alliance handed over more then EUR 6,000 to the National Assembly of Disabled People of Ukraine to finance the project “Cooperation in the Interests of Children.”
The Ukrainian Mission to NATO told UKRINFORM about this.
“At the Alliance Headquarters, an official ceremony of presentation of certificates was held to receive the funds for financing charity projects in NATO member and partner countries, gathered during the annual charity fair NATO Charity Bazzar. The North Atlantic Alliance handed over more than EUR 6,000 to the National Assembly of Disabled People of Ukraine this year to finance the project “Cooperation in the Interests of Children,” a statement reads.
It is noted that for the received funds, it is planned to purchase equipment for the sensory room necessary for rehabilitation of children with cerebral palsy in two boarding houses in Odesa.
As the Mission emphasized, active participation of the Ukrainian party in NATO Charity Bazzar for the second time opens possibility for Ukrainian charities to receive financial support from the Alliance. In 2011, over EUR 8,000 was disbursed for charitable projects in Kharkiv.
Ukraine is traditionally actively involved in NATO's charitable activities carried out at the Alliance Headquarters - in the charity sale of national products, held under the patronage of wives of the Secretary General and the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee.
In 2012, NATO Charity Bazzar has gathered EUR 185,045 and funded 26 charitable projects. Since 2005, the event raised over EUR 1 million intended for charitable projects in more than 200 countries worldwide.
