On 17 September 2013, the Razumkov Centre in cooperation with the NATO Liaison Office in Ukraine and the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and with the support of the Embassies of Norway, Poland, and Switzerland in Ukraine, and the Ministry of Defence of Estonia held the International Conference “The Role of International Organizations in the National Security of Ukraine”.
The ways of enhancing co-operation between Ukraine and key international organisations in order to strengthen regional security as well as the current level and effectiveness of co-operation frameworks in the context of a comprehensive approach to security were among the key issues of the discussion at the Conference.
The conference was attended by representatives of twenty counties, including high-level officials from OSCE, the UN, NATO, the EU, the Council of Europe, the Energy Community, the Organization for Democracy and Economic Development - GUAM, ambassadors and other diplomats from the Kyiv-based embassies of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Great Britain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, and the USA. Ukrainian side was represented by the legislative and executive branches of the government, leading experts of Ukrainian NGOs and think-tanks and the media.
An introductory speech was made by Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Leonid Kozhara, followed by the video address by NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow.
