Ukraine is shocked by the information voiced by a lawyer of Ukrainian film director Oleh Sentsov, who had been detained in the Crimea in early May, that this citizen of Ukraine was tortured and treated in an inhuman way. Along with the illegal detention of Oleh Sentsov on the territory of Ukraine by the Russian Secret Service and his subsequent transportation to Moscow, such methods of "beating out the testimony", applied by the Russian punitive bodies, are a flagrant violation of all international agreements and principles, brutal abuse of fundamental human rights and freedoms.
Absurd and meaningless accusations, fabricated against the citizens of Ukraine, is another evidence of Russia’s anti-Ukrainian hysteria, which is being "materialized" on the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea into severe repression against anyone who does not want to accept the Russian aggression.
We demand from the Russian Federation authorities to immediate release Oleh Sentsov and other detained citizens of Ukraine. We call on the international community, international non-governmental organizations working in the field of human rights as well as Russian public society to give an assessment to the glaring facts of torturing by the Russian punitive bodies, to continue targeted pressure on the Kremlin aiming at releasing all political prisoners, including citizens of Ukraine.
