On 29 October 2013, a working meeting between military delegations of Ukraine and NATO took place on board the Ukrainian Navy frigate Hetman Sagaidachny which continues her participation in the Alliance’s counter-piracy Operation Ocean Shield off the Horn of Africa.

The Ukrainian delegation was led by Chief of the Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel General Volodymyr Zamana, NATO delegation – by Chairman of NATO Military Committee General Knud Bartels.

The meeting was devoted, in particular, to discussing topical issues of the current and future interaction between Ukraine and NATO within the framework of Operation Ocean Shield.

The NATO side praised Ukraine’s significant contribution to the Alliance’s efforts to enhance maritime security.
