On 28-29 October 2013, a delegation of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine paid a study visit to NATO Headquarters in Brussels and the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) near the Belgian city of Mons.

During the visit to NATO HQ, members of the Ukrainian delegation met with representatives of the Alliance’s International Staff and International Military Staff, as well as of the mission of Ukraine to NATO. At the briefings held, they were informed of the current activities of the Alliance, the current trends in Ukraine’s relations with NATO.

The sides exchanged views on the prospects of military and defence cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, including in the sphere of military education, in the framework of Trust Funds on the destruction of light arms and radioactive waste, Ukraine’s participation in NATO-led operations and missions. The importance and good prospects of the continuation of NATO-Ukraine dialogue at all levels and in a variety of spheres was emphasized.
