Active interaction between the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly (PA) is an important factor for further successful development of our country’s constructive partnership with the Alliance in all areas.
To ensure the dynamic development of the parliamentary dimension of NATO-Ukraine cooperation, a number of appropriate events is envisaged in a "Tentative Timetable of International Activities of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for 2014".
In particular, during 2014 it is planned to organise two meetings of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council, the first of which was held in Kiev on 10-11 February. Members of the Permanent Delegation of the Ukrainian Parliament are to participate in the NATO PA’s Parliamentary training course as well as in seven meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly committees.
Besides, Ukrainian parliamentarians are expected to participate in three Rose-Roth seminars, as part of the information programme of the NATO PA to learn about the goals and activities of the Alliance.
Permanent Delegation of the Verkhovna Rada, which has the status of an associate member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, will also participate in the annual NATO PA Spring and Autumn sessions, which in 2014 will be convened in Vilnius (May) and the Hague (November) accordingly.
