A Ukrainian delegation will arrive in Brussels for consultations on the future signing of an Association Agreement after the sides complete the necessary preparatory work. Ukraine's Ambassador to Belgium and Luxembourg and Head of Ukraine's Mission to NATO Ihor Dolhov said this at a briefing in Brussels on Wednesday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
"The preparation of proposals from the two sides requires time. It's a question of readiness for such a meeting," he said, while specifying the results of a phone conversation between Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso regarding the agreement to initiate such consultations.
The diplomat said that contacts with the European Union are continuing, adding that the Ukrainian side does not intend to discuss the content of the already initialed Association Agreement.
"We plan and want to discuss additional issues to ensure financial and economic opportunities during the transition period for Ukraine after the signing of the Association Agreement," the ambassador said.
In the context of internal developments in Ukraine, he also said that the state is self-sufficient. "And we have always resolved our own domestic issues. And, as a sovereign state, we do not perceive any options of outside interference," Dolhov said.
