On 14 March  2014, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine ruled that The Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea “On holding the all-Crimean referendum” dt. 6 March 2014 is unconstitutional.

"To declare a resolution of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea “On holding the all-Crimean referendum,” of 6 March  2014, No. 1702-6/14, as such that is not complying with the Constitution of Ukraine (unconstitutional)."

Therefore, the decision of the Crimean parliament on the referendum is invalid. The Constitutional Court also ordered to stop preparation and funding of the referendum.
