On 8 October 2014 Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine P.Klimkin visited NATO Headquarters in Brussels. In the framework of the visit he met with the newly elected NATO Secretary General Mr. J.Stoltenberg.
It was the first official meeting of the NATO Secretary General at the NATO Headquarters after his appointment.
NATO Secretary General stressed the importance of cooperation with Ukraine. He also assured in full Alliance’s support of independent, sovereign and stable Ukraine and expressed willingness to continue active cooperation for proper and prompt implementation of decisions taken during the NATO summit in Wales.
During the meeting the parties came to an agreement about the schedule of political dialogue and the primary goals of practical cooperation for the fourth quarter of 2014 and the provisions of the Annual National Program on NATO-Ukraine cooperation for 2015.
Special attention was paid to joint activities aimed at strengthening of the defensive capability of our country, especially to the functioning of the NATO Trust Funds in four areas: cyber-defence, logistics, systems of communications and control, rehabilitation of wounded soldiers.
In this regard, the parties agreed that the practical implementation of the above-mentioned Trust Funds would get a kick off during the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers to be held in December this year.
