On 3 December 2014, the first meeting of the participants of the Global Coalition to Counter Islamic state of Iraq and Levant at the level of Foreign Ministers was held at the NATO Headquarters.
Meeting was chaired by US Secretary of State John Kerry. The representatives of 58 states and NATO Secretary General J.Stoltenberg, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy F.Mogerini, Iraqi Prime Minister Mr al -Abadi, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General N.Mladenov, Special Envoy of the President of the United States D.Allen, representatives of the League of Arab States and the Foreign Minister of Kosovo E.Hodzhay took part in the event.
The main objective of the meeting was to discuss on the high political level the future coalition activities, exchange the views on the implementation of a joint strategy toward ISIL and confirmation by the member countries of their contributions and willingness to provide further assistance to the Government of Iraq to counter ISIL.
During the meeting the Joint Statement was adopted.
