Yehor Bozhok: “A country, whose children do not know their native language and culture, has no future!”

On 20 June 2015, the Ukrainian Sunday school was open in the Belgian town of Arlon.

Acting Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO Yehor Bozhok, Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Luxembourg C. Radu, the parents of the future students and diplomats of the Mission all took part in the opening ceremony.

During the welcoming speech, Director of the school Sonia Balych said that in order to open the school, the Ukrainian society “Unity” (“Yednist’”) was also registered in the town of Arlon in March. According to her, school’s main goal will be teaching young Ukrainians their native language, native culture and traditions.

In his turn, Acting Head of Mission of Ukraine to NATO Y. Bozhok stressed that the Ukrainian state will support the initiative of our compatriots, including by providing textbooks and other educational materials.

Honorary Consul C. Radu noted the special feature of Ukrainian nature –solidarity in difficult times and expressed confidence that united Ukraine will take its rightful place in the family of democratic European countries.

At the end of the event children prepared drawings that are going to be sent to Ukrainian soldiers in ATO region.

The school is opening its doors for students on 12 September 2015.
