The draft programme was developed with participation of an Ukrainian representative at the first meeting of NATO ad hoc Working Group held on 27-28 July at NATO HQ in Brussels.

The meeting of NATO ad hoc Working Group for developing a typical anti-corruption programme was held within the third phase of NATO Building Integrity Initiative (which is focused on stranthening transparency, integrity and accountability in the defence and security sector). The meeting was attended by representative of the National Defence University of Ukraine, Colonel Olena Golota.

Representatives of academic circles of NATO Building Integrity Initiative participating states and relevant NATO experts are engaged in the activity of the ad hoc Working Group. Typical anti-corruption programme will contribute to updating relevant national curriculum that is taught in the security and defence sector institutions of NATO Building Integrity Initiative participating states.

The Building Integrity Initiative was launched by the Alliance in November 2007 to help the interested countries to implement in their national defence and security institutions an effective, virtuous and transparent management, to strengthen mechanisms for combating and preventing corruption, to improve the management system of financial and material resources. It is open to all interested countries.

Ukraine participates in the Initiative since May 2008. In the period of 2008-2013, Ukraine conducted two cycles of security and defence sector self-evaluation, results of which were taken into account when developing the National Anti-Corruption Strategy for 2011-2015.

In the period of 2008-2015, over 200 Ukrainian security and defence sector specialists were trained in relevant educational courses organised under the Initiative.
