NATO's political and practical support to Ukraine remains unchanged

Foreign Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin took part in the meeting of NATO-Ukraine Commission at the level of Foreign Ministers held at the Alliance Headquarters in Brussels and chaired by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Pavlo Klimkin expressed his gratitude for the NATO's support in countering Russian aggression, informed the participants about the progress of negotiations in Normandy format, stressing the our country's commitment to implement of the Minsk agreements.

Ukrainian side emphasised on the need to respect ceasefire; withdrawal of Russian troops from Donbass; providing complete access to Special monitoring mission of the OSCE to monitor the Ukrainian-Russian border and objects in the occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk regions; release of prisoners; provide access to the territory of Donbass by international organizations. It was stressed that Crimea has been and remains an integral part of Ukraine.

Allies confirmed the immutability firm position on supporting of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. They condemned in strong terms the continuing Russian aggression and the annexation of Crimea. It was also noted on the effectiveness of sanctions imposed on Russia and stressed the importance of their continuation for suspension of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

The Minister confirmed the Ukraine's determination towards the Euro-Atlantic integration and expressed interest in deepening political and practical cooperation of our country with NATO within the enduring partnership.

NATO-Ukraine Commission discussed progress in implementation of Comprehensive Asisstance Package for Ukraine, which was approved at the Warsaw summit in July. The ministers agreed on plans for further cooperation to strengthen the defense of our country and to strengthen the security of the eastern and southeastern flanks, including in the Black Sea region.

The foreign ministers of NATO member states noted Ukraine's progress in reforms' implementation, stressed the importance of continue of this process, pledged to continue to assist Ukraine in reforming of the national security and defense sector according to NATO standards.

During the visit to NATO Headquarters Klimkin also held talks with NATO Secretary General J.Stoltenberg and bilateral meetings with heads of foreign ministries of the US J.Kerry, the UK B.Johnson, the Netherlands B.Koenders and of Denmark A.Samuelsen.
