The meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Commission with the participation of the First Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense of Ukraine M.Koval, Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Y.Yenin, Head of the National Agency for the Prevention Corruption N.Korchak and Deputy Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine A.Novak has been conducted at NATO HQ.
During the meeting it was discussed the implementation of the Anti-Corruption Strategy of Ukraine for 2015-2017, anti-corruption efforts of the Prosecutor General Office, NABU and NACP, anti-corruption reforms in the defense sector.
It was also discussed the outcomes of the last Self-Assessment in Ukraine to identify corruption risks, which was held in the frameworks of the NATO Building Integrity Programme (BI program).
Allies gave a positive assessment of the implementation of anti-corruption reforms in Ukraine and welcomed the efforts of the Ukrainian side to create an effective system of prevention and fighting corruption. It was also noted that combating corruption is a key aspect of getting further NATO's and Allies' support on defense sector reform process in Ukraine.
During the vising to NATO HQ Ukrainian delegation also met with the Special Representative of the Secretary General J.Appathurai. It was stressed at the meeting that Ukraine remains a top priority for the Alliance. NATO high representative welcomed Ukraine's efforts to prevent and fight corruption in national defense and security sector, and assured that NATO will remain a reliable partner for Ukraine in this direction.
