On 3 September 2019 Head of NATO Department, Government Office for Coordination of Euro-Atlantic Integration, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksiy Genchev took part in the NATO Political Committee meeting on energy security.
The Political Committee is one of NATO’s senior committees, focusing on development with security implication for Allies and the Alliance. This meeting was part of series of meetings dedicated to energy security and NATO’s role in addressing energy-related challenges.
During the meeting Oleksiy Genchev informed Allies on the main challenges for energy security provoked by the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation, negative impact of the Russian energy infrastructure projects as well as Ukrainian policy aimed at overcoming energy dependence and recent reforms in energy sector of Ukraine.
Moreover, the Allies were briefed on Ukraine's actions in the context of strengthening interagency coordination in the area of critical infrastructure protection, building a national resilience system, in particular in the energy sector.
