24 September 2019 18:15

“Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine is a strategic political and practical guidance, which allows us to adequately adapt to the challenges in changing security environment in order to enable Ukraine to become more resilient, to better provide for its own security and to carry out essential reforms, in particular in the security and defense sector,” – said Head of NATO Department, Government Office for Coordination of Euro-Atlantic Integration, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine Oleksiy Genchev on 24 September at the NATO Partnership and Cooperative Security Committee meeting, which took place at NATO HQ in Brussels.

The meeting was dedicated to the preparation of the Comprehensive Assistance Package Review, which would be presented during the visit of the NATO North Atlantic Council to Ukraine in October.

During the meeting, the Allies were reassured in continuity of the Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic policy, which is the cornerstone of our defence and security reform. For Ukraine, the goal is to become a part of collective defense and security system, which means interaction, networking and joint efforts.

At the NATO-Ukraine Commission meeting in Warsaw on 9 July 2016 the NATO Heads of States and Governments endorsed Comprehensive Assistance Package for Ukraine. The objective of the Package is to consolidate and enhance NATO’s assistance for Ukraine. The CAP contains more than 40 targeted support measures in key areas. These measures are mutually reinforced by the joint work at the strategic level and will enhance Ukraine’s ability to better provide for its own security.
