The Mission of Ukraine to NATO presented in NATO HQ the photo exhibition «Ukraine: over 20 years on guard for peace», dedicated to International Day of United Nations.
The Head of Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Ambassador I.Dolhov in his address during the opening ceremony underlined the successful peacekeeping activity of Ukraine recognized across the world. He stressed that more than 38 thousand military and civilian personnel from Ukraine undertook their noble mission under UN, NATO, OSCE and EU flag in approximately 20 peacekeeping operations and missions across the globe. Currently more then 600 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine participates in 10 peacekeeping missions and other crisis response operations.
The representative of NATO International Military Staff Major General C.Branco thanked Ukraine for the contribution to peacekeeping activity and praised the professionalism of Ukrainian soldiers.
The exhibition consisted from the pictures captured by Oleksandr Klymenko, who he had witnessed a number of peacekeeping operations in former Yugoslavia, the Middle East and Africa.
It is a joint project of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, Ministry for Defense of Ukraine and parliamentary newspaper «Golos of Ukraine», where the author of the pictures currently works.
The ceremony was accompanied by the presentation of booklet «20 years on guard for peace» as well as the glass of wine ceremony specially produced to the anniversary of Ukraine-Russian airlift consortium which implements strategic transportation within the NATO SALIS program in the interests of the NATO member states.
