On 20 January 2025, NATO Headquarters hosted a regular meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Interparliamentary Council (UNIC) with the participation of parliamentarians from NATO member states and Ukrainian MPs.
The key topics of discussion included strengthening NATO's support for Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and advancing Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration.
The Ukrainian delegation emphasized the importance of Allied assistance in acquiring a sufficient number of weapons, including air defense systems and long-range weapons, developing Ukraine's defense industry, and intensifying sanctions against Russia. Ukrainian representatives also reiterated that Ukraine's membership in NATO is the only guarantee of lasting and just peace for the country and the prevention of future wars.
The President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Marcos Perestrello, addressed the meeting. Additionally, the parliamentarians met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, representatives of NATO International Staff, and International Military Staff.
