The group of students, winners of the competition dedicated to NATO-Ukraine cooperation, who arrived in Brussels at the invitation of NATO HQ visited Embassy of Ukraine in Belgium

The delegation included students from different regions of Ukraine, winners of the student video competition “Security: A view from Ukraine’s young generation”, the Summer School of Young Professionals 2012, the Student essay competition and Security Summer School 2012 “Modern Security Challenges and NATO’s Partnerships”, the Regional Student NATO Model Simulation Competition “Cooperative Security and NATO’s decision-making process” , the essay competition initiated by the SSU “Promotion of Democratic Values and Compliance with Human Rights in the Activity of Special Services”, etc.

While staying at the NATO HQ and the SHAPE (c. Mons), young Ukrainians were acquainted with the of Ukraine's relations with NATO, the Alliance's cooperation with other countries, including Russia as well as participated in the discussions on NATO's operations in Afghanistan and countering new challenges and threats.

During the meetings with the representativeі of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO Ukrainian students received full information about the military and defense component of cooperation between Ukraine and NATO, discussed the participation of Ukrainian units in current and future operations of the alliance, as well as the NATO Response Forces.

It was stressed that this year Ukraine and NATO celebrate 15th anniversary of the signing of the Charter on a Distinctive Partnership. For 15 years both Ukraine and NATO moved from participation in the program "Partnership for Peace" to perform Annual national programs, from discussion and planning to full participation in peacekeeping operations.

Today Ukraine is not only a consumer but also an important contributor to NATO-led operations and missions, and the tools and mechanisms of partnership between Ukraine and NATO in many cases formed the basis for the development of NATO's relationships with other partners.
